It is the custom among Tuareg people to exchange rings as a sign of affection or friendship. Tassendert or Tuareg rings are an amazing miniature reflection of the Tuareg universe of symbols that hold memory & cultural meaning.
Hand-crafted silver rings containing the carnelian point of a tanfouk are worn by men and believed to have prophylactic powers. Traditionally, the inadane or Tuareg artisans craft a wide range of rings with protective symbolism or tribal marks that represented the natural world in which they and their families live.
A well-designed striking ethnic band that over the years has been a labor of love. All hand-crafted in pure silver with a wider top than back. A strong presence with a soft look.

One of my inpirational pieces that from design to finish took 2 weeks to complete. Blue & green Tibetan turquoise set in Native American style, although the true setting for this ring was inspired by a Tuareg bracelet. A powerful ring made of pure silver & hand-crafted in fire & sand in the Niger desert.

Robin's egg blue spider web turquoise set in an oval setting & inspired by old Native American silver jewelry. The stone is surrounded by a double layer of Tuareg hand-etching. This ring crafted in pure silver was one of the last pieces I co-created before leaving Agadez in 2007, prior to the start of the Tuareg Rebellion.
